i've got the fever...BROADWAY FEVER!

my friend eartha has always been the ultimate broadway fan. infact, she goes to new york just to watch and can spend hours lining up to get a ticket for the "wicked"show. upon reading her online journal, it's inspired me to go back to my theater/musical influences.

i'm so thankful that launchcast actually has a station for broadway musicals (thanks don!). i get my fill of miss saigon, phantom of the opera, les miserables, rent, wicked, urinetown and a whole lot more!!! i remember when my brother and i would actually sing the duets of almost all the broadway songs we knew, especially this song from "closer than ever" complete with the dance number!

i've discovered this funny play called "zanna don't". the main character is jai rodriguez from queer eye. so funny!!!! try to check out their site

i now have an additional stop on my north american trip later this year. i've got to stop by new york and catch at least one show! if i don't i'll never forgive myself!!!

opening the EX-file

some friendships are worth salvaging, some are better letting go of...

i've always had this notion that ex-boyfriends can and should be your friend after the break up. and i'm proud to say that 4 out of 5 exs are my friends. after all, we did go through good and bad times together. and i've discovered that with most of them, i'm a better friend than girlfriend. it's like that ey? some relationships are ruined by turning nothing, into a something.

but there's that sort of guy that doesn't want and cannot be your friend. it's been a year since we broke up and i felt like i was ready to build the communication bridge. apparently, he felt the opposite. great.

maybe i'm just being idealistic. maybe i'm thinking that this is a perfect world. but then, it isn't. and if it were, i'd be a size 6. :)

she smiled.

he has his back towards her, trying unsuccessfully to put on his tie.

"here, let me do that for you", she offered.

"thank you. i never could get this right", he said gratefully.

she stood behind him and started working on making the perfect knot. he was tall, broad-shouldered, with cropped hair that was combed to perfection. he was the youngest candidate ever to run for the position. easily, he was the crowd favorite.

although she had tied neckties thousands of times, this time, her fingers had a mind of their own. they just wouldn't work. or maybe it was because he was the one she was making it for.

"you know what, you're too tall. you've got to sit down"

he sat down on a nearby chair. it was weird, the future president of the country obeying orders from a campaign volunteer.

"so, what are you going to address on you speech today? this ground breaking is a photo op that will make the people love you more! i mean, who else would go all the way to the middle of nowhere...what?" she asked when she noticed him staring at her.

now, it was his turn to smile.

take me back to my home....

i was looking through my friendster the other day and i looked into the account of my college organization, the UPLB Jocks. we are the org for the campus disc jockeys and events hosts extroidinare!!! allan and i joined second sem of our freshman year. and the years that followed were adventures beyond our wildest imaginations! well, maybe that was an exaggeration, but still, it was a blast. i got to know a lot of people and got exposed to different cultures. walking down palm drive will never be the same.

looking at my orgmates made me long for my college years. when everything was so easy, compared to now. when all i had to think about was passing Stat 1 and Physics 1. when a good time was simple hanging out at carabao park, with frozen cokes and papu's siomai. when gimmicks meant having to shell out 20 pesos for a san mig light and not 100 pesos!

and now that i think about it, our batch in the org was a far cry to the batch now. i don't know, maybe its a matter of creativeness? and i remember us, when there were alumni in the booth, we knew how to pay our respects. we would be the ones to shake their hands first. now? they have no idea who built the org and they don't know how to give respect. is it too much to ask for them to at least say hi and look at you as if you're an intruder? oh well....the kids of today...

but in all seriousness, i miss my alma matter. i miss UP. i miss the exentric mix of backgrounds, beliefs, and preferences. i miss LB. i miss the relaxed enviroment, the music, the air, the trees.

i miss being home.

the last supper

saturday, march 26, casa y lapis
spent the whole day cooking for my friends. i figured, i'd save a whole lot if i just cooked for them. on the menu was lasagna, pizza, and chili wings. for dessert, i made a chiffon cake with chocolate icing topped with strawberries and kiwi. yuuummmm!!!

dinner was good. had red wine with the meal. as esay said "alta sosyal na kami". it was fun seeing my friends together. it's hard to put everyone in one room. good thing it was a saturday. man, i miss them already!
