jamaican nights 2006

saturday was a high point in my cebu life.

started the day by going half day at work. came in at 4am and clocked out at 8am. had a very filling breakfast at the marriot with ed and george. i've been craving for bacon, eggs and french toast for the past week and i was able to get my fill. yum yum!!

after, ed and i headed to ayala to catch "she's the man" however the show time wasn't til 1pm and i couldn't afford to wait. i ended up buying a sudoku(?) puzzle book. i am so addicted to the freakin number puzzle game!! i love it! i ended up solving puzzles til 6pm.

at 6, roy calls me and says that we should meet early to go to jamaican nights. we met up at starbucks and i met his officemates ken, sherwin, oca, pau, and elaine. really good bunch! by the end of the night, i loved them. and i told them that too! they're the ultimate party barkada. and i thought that we wouldn't get along (because they're from etel) but we jived. i especially loved ken, he's sooooo funny (you know pare, we should make lakao na to the dance! karon!)

this was my second jamaican nights and it marked my first year gimmick anniversary in cebu. last year it was the first gimmick i had on the island. and i'm glad this year's not marking my last. next to sinulog, this has got to be the biggest party here. jamaican nights 2006 can be summed up in one word...

RIOT!!!!!!!!

we started the night with urbandub, who totally and utterly ROCKED my world! was never really into them but after saturday night, i've been playing their album non-stop. after them came the bikini competition and i didn't really pay attention to that. then came the highlight of the evening...brownman revival! i've liked brownman even before they became popular. i first met them during the opening of gerry's grill in subic. allan, yanna and i had organized the event and we got them for entertainment. they were really good and fun too! i absolutly love dino! he's so sexy onstage! whew! we jammed to their reggae beats, jumping, dancing, singing along. after their set, we took a quick agua break then went back to dance the night away with DJ elmer dado, DJ white and grupo tribale.

we called it a night (err...morning?) at 4am. they took me home. at that point, i had been awake a full 24hours. but i didn't mind. i said goodbye to roy. it's sad...he's going back to manila on sunday. wwaaahhh!! my only connection to LB leaving me. :( at cebu beach club, we were sitting on the shore taking a time out, the tribal music in the background, the crashing waves, cool sea air blowing our way, a cresent moon hanging in the night sky. it was a perfect night to be with a dear college friend. i told him that if there's one thing that i would miss if ever i leave cebu, it would be smelling the salty wind. and i could have sworn i almost saw him teary eyed.

cebu does things to you. both good and bad. it's like a relationship, you have to accept everything. and this affair with the island is one that i know he will not forget. and neither will i.
