the great escape

the other day, i snuck out of the office to spend lunch with my best friend who i haven't seen in a while. i stepped out of the building, and the hot manila air greeted me. it felt good compared to the cold, artificial air that circulates into my lungs inside the office.

so i walk the 10 minutes to the mall and i pass the bamboo garden of greenbelt. i swear, everytime i pass that place, no matter now bad my day's going, it all disappears when i see the green bamboo shoots, the pond, the serenity of it all. hay...

we meet up and i order italian comfort food. yum! we catch up. she tells me about a peculiar shopping trip that she went on. she was tasked to shop for an urn for her boyfriend's father. how in the world do you shop for an urn?? it's like shopping for the right plot at a cemetary! a plot with a view. as if the dead can see the view!! weird!

anyway, a quick one hour lunch turned into two hours and i headed back to the office. the quick trip was a great break from the monotony that is the four walls of my office. sometimes you just need to escape, even if it's just down the road...
